What Do I Need to Qualify for Food Assistance?

Needs Inc. offers three food programs for Laramie County residents. Each program has different requirements. Please review the information below so you know what to bring.

10-Day Commodity (TEFAP) Box

To qualify, you must have lived in Laramie County for at least 30 days and provide:

  • Identification for the head of household. An out-of-state ID is accepted with proof of a Laramie County address.

  • Identification for every other household member. Accepted documents include a photo ID, birth certificate, or Social Security card.

30-Day Monthly Food Box

To qualify, you must have lived in Laramie County for at least 45 days and provide:

  • Identification for every household member: a photo ID, birth certificate, or Social Security card.

  • Proof of your current physical residence: a utility bill, lease agreement, or mortgage statement. Only the previous forms of proof of address will be accepted. NO OTHER ARTICLES OF MAIL WILL BE ACCEPTED

  • Proof of income: pay stubs from the last three months, the previous year’s tax return, a Social Security award letter, documentation of child support, or other income documentation. BANK STATEMENTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED AS PROOF OF INCOME.

If you or another adult in your household has no income to report, each adult without income must sign our No Income Declaration Affidavit.

Walking Bag Program

Our Walking Bag Program provides ready-to-eat food for neighbors experiencing homelessness. These bags help meet immediate food needs for people who may not have access to a kitchen, refrigeration, or cooking equipment. Available with out identification, no questions asked.

How to Submit Your Documents

You can email your documents to our Client Coordinator at clients@needsinc.org or bring them to Needs Inc. to be scanned. You may also use the contact form below to upload your files.

Our Food Programs

Walking Bag

Walking bags are available to individuals experiencing homelessness or individuals that do not have the means of cooking or storing food.

Fresh Produce

Fresh produce is available most days in our lobby on a first come, first served basis. Fresh produce in the lobby is available to the community and does not require a photo ID or income verification. Call ahead to see what available for the day!

TEFAP Commodity Food Box

TEFAP Commodity food boxes are available to individuals with a valid photo ID and are available every 10 days.

Monthly Food Box

The monthly food box program is available to Laramie County residents who have completed the eligibility verification process. Due to grant funding our city and county food boxes have different eligibility requirements.
